Price
Grant Price
  The Grant Price Scholarship
IBNA names its annual scholarship in honor of the late Grant Price—an IBNA Jack Shelley Award recipient; news director of WMT Radio/TV, Cedar Rapids; Vice President of News and Public Affairs for KWWL-TV, Waterloo; and professor emeritus at Wartburg College. The scholarship amount is $1,000.00, provided by IBNA.

Eligibility: Applicants for the Grant Price Scholarship must be registered in good standing at a two-year or four-year college or university in Iowa, and hold either freshman or sophomore standing. The scholarship is designed to recognize outstanding promise at an early career stage.

Requirements: To apply for the Grant Price Scholarship, students must complete the application form and provide no more than three news writing samples (no discs/URLs), a minimum of two letters of recommendation (one of which must be from a current or former faculty member), and a one page statement of their goals in electronic media journalism.


Petrik
Dick Petrik
  Dick Petrik Outstanding Student Award
The IBNA Dick Petrik Outstanding Student Award is given to a college student whose work shows outstanding potential for a career in electronic media journalism. The award is named for the late Dick Petrik, longtime news director at KOEL Radio in Oelwein and the first IBNA Jack Shelley Award recipient. This honor carries a monetary award of $500.00, provided by IBNA.


PETRIK OUTSTANDING STUDENT APPLICATION FORM

Eligibility: Applicants for the Petrik Award must be registered in good standing at a four-year college or university in Iowa, and hold either junior or senior standing.

Requirements: Entrants must submit no more than three taped examples of their work during college, which may include newscasts in which the entrant participated, packages, interview programs or segments, material gathered in the field, etc. The student's participation must be made clear either within the work or through supplemental written material. Entries may (but are not required to) include both radio and television examples. Submit no more than two discs (one audio CD and one DVD) or provide URLs to the examples. Entrants must also complete the enclosed form and submit a minimum of two letters of recommendation from persons familiar with their broadcast work (such as a news director or a current/former faculty member).


Keller
Eliot A. Keller
  The Eliot A. Keller Scholarship
The Eliot A. Keller Scholarship is named for the late co-owner/general manager of KZIA-FM/KGYM-AM, Cedar Rapids, and co-founder of KRNA-FM, Iowa City. The scholarship amount is $500.00, provided annually by Mr. Keller's friends, co-workers, and family.


KELLER SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FORM

Eligibility: Applicants for the Eliot A. Keller Scholarship must be registered in good standing at a four-year college or university in Iowa, and hold either sophomore, junior or senior standing. The scholarship is designed to recognize outstanding promise at an early career stage for an individual intending to pursue a career in radio.

Requirements: To apply for the Eliot A. Keller Scholarship, students must complete the application form and provide no more than three news writing samples, a minimum of two letters of recommendation (one of which must be from a current or former faculty member), and a one page statement of their goals in electronic media journalism. Discs/URLs are permitted, but NOT required.


Bachman
John Bachman
  The John Bachman Scholarship
The John Bachman Scholarship is named for the longtime Iowa television anchor/reporter, who retired in 2012 after a 40-year career, the last 25 of which was spent at WHO television in Des Moines. Mr. Bachman is an IBNA Jack Shelley Award recipient. The scholarship amount is $500.00, provided annually by Mr. Bachman's friends and co-workers.

Eligibility: Applicants for the John Bachman Scholarship must be registered in good standing at a four-year college or university in Iowa, and hold either sophomore, junior or senior standing. The scholarship is designed to recognize outstanding promise at an early career stage for an individual intending to pursue a career in television.

Requirements: To apply for the John Bachman Scholarship, students must complete the application form and provide no more than three news writing samples, a minimum of two letters of recommendation (one of which must be from a current or former faculty member), and a one page statement of their goals in electronic media journalism.
