Cary J. Hahn, the 2006 Shelley Award winner, wrote of Borg, “He was one of the first faces I saw on Iowa television when I came to the state in 1979 and I have seen him often since, providing years of valuable service to Iowa viewers in hosting and moderating the newsmakers on Iowa Press,” the program he has been a part of since it premiered in 1971.

Among his many reporting assignments was coverage of a deadly tornado in Charles City 40 years ago. He was only of only two reporters allowed into Charles City immediately following the tornado. He filed reports with WMT by phone and also shipped film back to the Cedar Rapids station.
