Active Membership is limited to persons employed in Iowa or its adjacent markets, or who have an Iowa affiliation elsewhere, who are engaged in reporting, preparing or supervising the transmission of audio or video news material, or who are engaged in the instruction of journalists or electronic communication.  Calendar year 2010 dues are $15.00.

Associate Membership is open to persons engaged in activities other than electronic media news or its instruction.  Public relations specialists, attorneys, public officials and others concerned with the electronic media news industry are among those who join the association at this level.  Association members enjoy all IBNA benefits, except these members may not vote or hold office in IBNA.  Calendar year 2010 dues are $65.00.

Student Membership is open to persons attending high school, community college, or four-year institutions of higher learning.  Student members enjoy all association benefits but may not vote and must pay an additional fee for the annual membership directory.  Calendar year 2010 dues are $10.00.
